Sherwood Forest RV Resort
We left Lake Manatee State Park around 10 a.m. yesterday and arrived in Kissimmee around noon. Kissimmee is in the heart of the "real Florida". The state parks like to call themselves the "real Florida", but once you get here you know that there is really only one "Park" here and it is the "real Florida". Mickey is everywhere, there is even an electrical transmission tower shaped like him. I would have a picture of it except I was driving. Hold a sec, there must be a picture of it online somewhere. That's what the Internet is for, isn't it?

We have gone from the peace and quiet and solitude of the state park to this. We're in here somewhere. Where's Waldo?
Since we have no intention of going to Disney-anything I wonder what we are doing here. It's a way station for 2 weeks, and not an inexpensive one. (If it's called a resort hold on to your wallet). But it is a very nice park and we met our neighbors yesterday who are also very nice and full of local information.
Today we got the rig set up with table and chairs and got a little reading done. Tomorrow is sheet day so we'll head off to the laundromat and then up to a local brewery to for lunch and beer (Peg's idea). I expect this to be a fairly quiet stay since there doesn't appear to be much in the area to attract us. There are all these attractions here, because, as one man told us "You have to keep them entertained when they're not in the park." Yet none of them interest us. I'm sure if we dig a little deeper we can find the "real" Kissimmee, which in the local Native language meant "pure running lake" or "high water table" or something like that. By the way, it's pronounced Kiss-SEE-me. You don't want to sound like a tourist, do you?
